WaHoooo!!! Sooo, I have been slacking on the blogging front. So I won't apologize for this novel I'm about to write... you asked for it!
However, I have been quite busy. Now that I have a J-O-B, all I seem to do is eat, work, sleep...etc...therefore, not that interesting to blog about. :)
I started working at Xerox, yes, making copies :), I work on a computer all day crunching numbers... humm... but it is a job! It's kinda sad, but having a schedule has really helped me keep my sanity. I mean, there is only so many ways I can rearrange my living room :)
Friday, August 13th:
Mom flew in today, and I drove to pick her up all by myself... and for those of you who have never driven on the left side of the road, and encountered round-abouts, it is a feat! :) We came back to the house, had a spot of tea and relaxed. It was so good to finally show her around our abode and to show her our garden!
Saturday, August 14th:
We are ladies that lunch :) Me, mom, Amy, Angela, Nicola, Bernie (Nicola's mom) & Harry (the only boy aloud :) drove out these amazing, curving, country roads to a quaint little village pub! AHh, the drive was so majestic! As we wiz through the country lanes, which appear to be just big enough for one car, much less two, we look above to see the trees romantically forming a canopy above our heads. It's like you are going through a magic tunnel with shrubs and country cottages on either side of you.
I'm bad... no pictures...oops... so hopefully the description will do it justice :)
Saturday night we met Tone & Ang in the Red Lion, a nearby pub, for some adult beverages.
Glorious start to the trip!
Sunday, August 15th:
Mom and I are up early and off to church at St. John's, which is 10 centuries old! wow... I can't seem to wrap my head around that!?
After church we went to watch Neil and the boys play football (soccer). All the boys and their Doris' (aka their other halves) came over to the house to watch some more football and hang out! Brilliant day! Beautiful weather!
Later on that evening, me, Neil, Kenny & Paul broadened Mom's palette to the wonders of Indian food. Yummyyy!!
Monday, August 16th:
Day at the beach!!!!! Drove down to Brighton beach!!! One of my most favorite places in England so far! The day could not have been more perfect! Beautiful blue skies, a perfect 75F, Marvelous!! Walked on the rock beach, I got stung by a yellow jacket at lunch, turns out, I'm not allergic... had coffee and watched the sun set over the marina... seriously, perfect. Poor Neil with that work thing.... :)
Tuesday, August 17th:
Went out with the O'Brien's for a celebration of Angela's birthday and Stuart & Nicola's wedding anniversary! Lovely meal with all the fam! Really nice!
Wednesday, August 18th:
Off to the big ci-tay! Straight to Harrod's for Champagne and oysters... I think Mom can come into town more often :) We perused around the food hall in Harrod's...ridiculous... anything you could possibly imagine, and then the next floor up you will find YSL, Gucci, Chanel... it's fun to dream :)
Neil met us up town after work in an area called Mayfair. We went to a delicious restaurant that Amy suggested called Hush Batisserie! The restaurant was tucked away in an alley that all the sudden opened up to a courtyard with little restaurants and bars with patio seating. It was so cool, it was like a secret find/Amy's find :)
Thursday, August 19th:
Mom and I had a chill day at the house.... aka.... rearranged my living room furniture. I think I have a problem. Seriously. How many times am I going to move these sofas!??! Geez :)
We had a relaxing evening... I cooked Pork with a porcini mushroom risotto and zucchini and sipped some vino rosso!
Friday, August 20th:
Neil took the day off work! Wahoo! Mom and I went for a walk and came home to a hot cooked full English breakfast! Thanks Neilson! After brekie, we went to Windsor, famous for Windsor Castle, which is one of the Queen's homes. You'll know if she's home because they have the flag flying high over the castle!
As soon as we got home we headed into town! Mom just LOVES public transportation :) hehe, jk, but on the way into town it was really crowded... and it was a bit hot, and she got a bit overwhelmed.... Needless to say, I don't believe you'll see her on Marta anytime soon. Anyways, we arrived safely in Covent Garden, had a drink and headed to our dinner spot. Another restaurant tucked away down an alley off the 'main drag' as Mom would say... called Cafe de Amis! Great little French Restaurant! Chocolate Soup with black pepper ice cream... don't knock it til you've tried it! Yummy!
Saturday, August 21st:
Lazy morning, shopping, laundry,... Neil is off to Birmingham, so it's girls night!!!
Vino to start, then into Uxbridge for a romantic dinner :) Who knows.... maybe we'll end up in the dance club!?!?...
